Lynda Dolan Clinical Psychologist

I am a registered clinical psychologist with the National Psychologist’s Registration Board, Australian Health Professions Regulation Agency (AHPRA). I specialise in individual, couple and family psychological therapy and maintain a full time private practice in Georges Heights, Mosman which is situated on the lower North Shore of Sydney. My consulting rooms are in a peaceful and secure nature setting, within easy access from the city and all surrounding areas.

I have a deep interest in the benefits of hypnosis in psychotherapy. I am a lecturer and presenter at the Australian Society of Hypnosis. I publish regularly, conduct workshops and provide supervision to students, psychologists, psychotherapists, doctors and dentists in the clinical application of hypnosis in psychotherapeutic and medical settings.

Experience and Qualifications

My past experience includes working with various psychotherapeutic and medical conditions including emotional difficulties, somatic disorders, posttraumatic stress, eating disorders, developmental delays, autistic spectrum, disabilities, head injuries and learning difficulties.

My earlier education includes a Bachelor of Primary Education degree and a Teachers’ Licentiate in Piano obtained from the Trinity College, London. It was during my early teaching and musical careers that I was drawn to the field of psychology. As a result my subsequent training included an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology, both obtained from universities in South Africa.

Whilst completing my postgraduate studies I undertook two full-time internships: a full-time 6-month psychometric internship at a clinic for cerebral palsied, physically and learning disabled children and adolescents and a 12-month Master’s internship at the Institute of Child and Adult Guidance university clinic.

During my master’s studies I also coordinated the psycho-gastroenterology unit whilst completing a dissertation on the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome and was invited to present the results at the European Congress of Psychology in Rome.

More recently I obtained a post-graduate diploma in clinical hypnosis from the Australian Society of Hypnosis. In addition I have extended my clinical psychology skills by completing further specialist clinical training at the University of Western Sydney and James Cook University.
